Commonwealth Diver Daley Fears He May Grow Too Tall

Now for any of you that take a slight interest in what is going on in the news, then you will have heard about England’s Commonwealth diving hero, Tom Daley striking Gold, not once but twice at the common wealth games in Delhi this year and he is hoping to repeat them both at the London 2012 Olympics, but he may have a slight problem with that.

The young superstar has recently revealed that he fears he may grow too tall to dive. He has said how you need to be a ‘reasonable height’ to be a diver and he has also revealed that if you get taller than 5ft 10 then you may encounter some problems if you are a diver. Speaking about why you can’t be too tall if you’re a diver, Daley said: “If you’re too tall you start spinning too slowly so you can’t fit in all the rotations in time before you hit the water. You just have to cross your fingers and hope you don’t grow too tall.”

Daley won two Gold’s, one in the synchronised diving event with his partner Max Brick and he also came out on top against Australia’s Olympic champion Matt Mitcham in the solo dive, which for a 16 year old from Plymouth isn’t bad going!

Let’s hope that he doesn’t grow too tall before London 2012 because we would all like to see some of our young upcoming talent winning medals in the big time and let’s be honest, in the world of athletics, it doesn’t really get much bigger than the Olympics!
