The Great White Shark was made famous by the 1975 film by George Lucas – Jaws. The Great White shark, weighs in at more than a tonne and let’s be honest, if you’re diving of the coast of the UK you’ll be pretty darn cold, then to be greeted by a monstrously huge killer shark you’d be petrified!

More and more fishermen though want to come to the help of the public by trying to catch them, and there is some kind of a competition between the respected fishermen in the country as to who will be the first angler to catch a “white death” in the UK.

Speaking about the fish being in the UK, respected angler Steve Mills said: “There are definitely great whites in our waters. The only reason they do not get caught by fisherman is because they do not use the right tackle.

“They will be here because of the stocks of mackerel and will probably be feeding on pollock and cod.

“There have been sightings in the past but no photographic evidence but that definitely does not mean they are not here.”

So really if you are planning on going diving around the UK anytime soon we wouldn’t advise it, there are probably safer places in the world to go SCUBA diving, or are there, if the Great Whites are coming over to the UK, where will they go next, who knows…

If you pay a visit to the Hydrodome in Ft. Lauderdale then you can see what it’s like for the members of staff who work there to travel around the bottom of the pool on an underwater their Segway, HydroBOB.

“An underwater Segway?!” You may ask, yes that’s right, well it’s more like an underwater scooter but it’s still pretty cool! You don’t need any experience Scuba diving because you literally bung your head in an oxygen filled ball/helmet and you’re off. It’s almost like someone had the idea of rolling up Jet skiing and scuba diving and came up with this Segway/scooter type thing.

Sadly, the HydroBOB’s aren’t yet available to buy, so for any of you millionaires out there that are reading this and plotting a James Bond like venture to the sea on your trusty ol’ steed then you can forget that straight away!

Alternatively, if you’re in ft. Lauderdale anytime soon then why not book in to pay a visit and have a good old rasp on one of these underwater scooters. A sure-fire way to keep the kids entertained for an hour and at just $25 per hour it is in some people’s eyes $25 or £15 well spent!

Now for any of you that take a slight interest in what is going on in the news, then you will have heard about England’s Commonwealth diving hero, Tom Daley striking Gold, not once but twice at the common wealth games in Delhi this year and he is hoping to repeat them both at the London 2012 Olympics, but he may have a slight problem with that.

The young superstar has recently revealed that he fears he may grow too tall to dive. He has said how you need to be a ‘reasonable height’ to be a diver and he has also revealed that if you get taller than 5ft 10 then you may encounter some problems if you are a diver. Speaking about why you can’t be too tall if you’re a diver, Daley said: “If you’re too tall you start spinning too slowly so you can’t fit in all the rotations in time before you hit the water. You just have to cross your fingers and hope you don’t grow too tall.”

Daley won two Gold’s, one in the synchronised diving event with his partner Max Brick and he also came out on top against Australia’s Olympic champion Matt Mitcham in the solo dive, which for a 16 year old from Plymouth isn’t bad going!

Let’s hope that he doesn’t grow too tall before London 2012 because we would all like to see some of our young upcoming talent winning medals in the big time and let’s be honest, in the world of athletics, it doesn’t really get much bigger than the Olympics!
